    • Q26.What are influences of excessive temperature of cutting fluid?
      A:
      The temperature difference of cutting fluid will affect dimensions and surface fineness of workpieces, especially for the ferrous materials. During the cutting process, the cutting fluid will start to volatilize when the temperature goes up to certain degree. Therefore, the solution will be less and less. It is not difficult to control the quality only if you grasp the temperature curve. For workpieces and blades in turning process, excessive temperature will cause nigrescence, subdued strength, and decreased cutting force. The workpieces produced under such conditions won’t be beautiful and the sizes won’t be precise. For workpieces with metallic materials, one shall pay special attention to unstable conditions.
    • Q27.What are compositions of cutting fluid used for electrical discharge machining?
      A:
      Currently, most of electrical discharge machines use pure water as the working fluid, and a few electrical discharge machines use one thing commonly known as “water-oil”. When taking the pure water as the working fluid, the processing speed is fast while the electrolysis phenomena might take place easily. Therefore, common electrical discharge machines generally match a set of circulatory system of pure water.
    • Q28.Why does operators have to adjust the vent of cutting fluid?
      A:
      Materials will generate massive temperature during the cutting process. With correct cutting angles and conditions of cutters, the temperature will be taken away by cuttings. The main purpose of cutting fluid is to decrease the temperature. Many cutters with different sizes might be used during the cutting process, it is common for one to adjust the water column of cutting fluid to the most proper position. It’s better to choose cutters with the function of “central draining” (Of course, the machine shall be equipped with the device for central draining). The higher the draining pressure is, the better the effect will be. The cooling effect and the service life of cutters will be different accordingly.

      If the cutter for truing is the tungsten carbide milling cutter, then the equipment with “central draining” cannot be used and you have to adjust cooper pipes or plastic pipes. The another purpose of truing is to wash cuttings away for fear that they might scratch the refined surface, or wash cuttings off knife edges for the fear that they adhere to the knife edges due to the temperature, cause shortening of the service life of cutters and the finished surface won’t be beautiful.

      For CNC machines in precision machining, the revolving speed is fast, the amount of feed is few and the temperature would easily rise. With insufficient cutting fluid, the size of workpieces might be incorrect due to heat expansion and cold contraction. In rough machining, the temperature will rise all the same. However, the rough machining will reserve some space for the size of precision machining. Consequently, insufficient cutting fluid under such circumstance won’t cause severe results. Provided the external dimensions of workpieces are small, the cutting fluid will then become a crucial factor. Therefore, the vent of cutting fluid must be adjusted in precision machining so as to obtain effective cooling temperature. Moreover, one shall lubricate the tool nose to achieve the machining precision and surface fineness. Every cutter of a CNC lathe is equipped with fixed water outlet. It means that just several vent shall be adjusted for once and they won’t move even with changed cutters. For CNC milling machines, their water outlets are fixed next to the principal axis and shall be adjusted depending on conditions due to the different lengths of cutters. Additionally, hydraulic pressures shall also be decided according to the workpieces and sizes of cutters. For lathes, especially the inner bores, you must remember that the cutting fluid shall be sprayed on the side of inner bores, instead of the knife edges. In this way, the removal of cuttings won’t be obstructed to cause accumulation.
    • Q29.Does the application of cutting fluid will exert influences (on surface accuracy of workpieces, abrasion of cutters and others)? Why?
      A:
      With the application of cutting fluid, the processing speed will increase, the surface accuracy will be better and the abrasion speed of cutters will be slower than those without cutting fluid. Moreover, the temperature of workpieces will be higher and the fineness of sizes will be relatively higher. Scraps can be washed away to avoid the winding of scrap iron.
    • Q30.Do aluminum products will turn black on the next day after undergoing turning treatment?
      A:
      It will be better to wash turneries with clear water or use water-solubility cutting oil (commonly known as Turkey red oil). The aluminum materials can’t stand acid and alkali. You’d better drying them after cleaning them up. After turning, the surface will quickly oxidize to form protective films.
