- Q16.What are the main reasons for metamorphism and smelliness of cutting fluid?
  A:
  Bacteria are the main reason of smelliness. Generally, there are two kinds of bacteria in the cutting fluid, namely, aerobe and anaerobe. The aerobe exists in mineral substances with aerobic conditions, such as water, cutting fluid, or gas leaking from machine tools. One aerobe will constantly divide into two every other 20 minutes. The anaerobe exists in environment with rare oxygen. One anaerobe will divide into two every 60 minutes and undergo constant metabolism to release sulfur dioxide with strong smell of rotten eggs. The cutting fluid will then turn black. When bacteria in the cutting fluid accumulate to a considerable quantity, the cutting fluid will give off unbearable stink.
- Q17.How to decrease bacteria?
  A:
  - Use cutting fluid with high stability and quality.
  - Use clean water to integrate with the cutting fluid. It will increase the lubricity of cutting fluid and decrease bacteria.
  - Too low concentration ratio of cutting fluid might encourage the growth of bacteria.
  - The oil used for machine tools is the favorite food of bacteria. Consequently, oil leaking from machine tools shall be prevented from mixing with cutting fluid.
  - Oil-water separator shall be added to eliminate oil contamination in bath solutions.
  - Add new cutting fluid from time to time to keep the PH value above 8.3~9.2. It’s difficult for bacteria to survive under such circumstances.
  - Maintain the clean of working places and keep them from sewage such as sump oil, food residues and others.
  - Use bactericides. If the facilities are not equipped with filter units, one shall regularly clear oil slick and sewage.
- Q18.What are the reasons for corrosion of metals?
  A:
  - Insufficient concentration of cutting fluid.
  - PH value shall be adjusted according to different metallic materials. With PH value less than 9.2, aluminum products will be corroded.
  - Different materials contact with each other. For instance, place workpieces on paper or woods.
  - The quantity of bacteria in cutting fluid excesses the standard.
  - Excessive humidity in the working environment.
- Q19.How to guard against corrosion of metals?
  A:
  - Infuse the cutting fluid with pure water and maintain the concentration of cutting fluid according to the instruction book.
  - Use anti-rust fluid depending on conditions to prevent the generation of bacteria.
  - Keep the humidity of working environment within proper scope.
  - Prevent cutting fluid from being polluted.
  - Prevent different materials from contacting with each other, such as aluminum and steel, cast iron (contains magnesium) and copper and others.
- Q20.What are the main reasons for the generation of foams?
  A:
  - With low fluid level and high pump pressures, there’s no time for the overflow of foams. They finally pile up.
  - Poor design of sink. Too small sinks or excessive bulkheads thereof will cause poor fluidity. The nozzle angle of cutting fluid is too vertical or tough.
  - The hardness of water quality is too high or there is aluminum soap on the tank bottom due to excessive cutting of aluminum.
  - Due to the evaporation of water in tank fluid, the concentration of cutting fluid is too high.
